Mend is a coaching app for couples. This page explains what Mend stores, why, who else processes it, and how to delete it.
What Mend stores
- The anonymous identifier Sign in with Apple gives us, and the display name you choose. Mend does not ask for your email address.
- Which couple you belong to, and its invite code.
- Your moments: what happened and how it felt.
- Your conversations with your coach.
- How many coach messages you send each day, to apply daily limits.
- Your couple's subscription status and expiry date.
How your words are used
Your coach reads what you write. It also reads what your partner writes, and your partner's coach reads what you write: that is how it helps each of you understand the other. Your partner never sees your words. The coach is told to describe patterns rather than quote you, and Mend blocks replies that copy your text. Your conversations with your coach are never shown to your partner's coach.
Who processes your data
- DeepSeek generates coaching replies. For each reply, your moment, your partner's recent entries and your conversation are sent to DeepSeek's API. DeepSeek is based in China, so this data is processed outside Australia.
- Cloudflare hosts Mend's server and database.
- Apple handles sign-in and payments.
- RevenueCat records subscription purchases against your Mend user identifier so that one subscription can unlock both partners.
Mend has no advertising, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell your data.
Keeping and deleting your data
Mend keeps your data until you delete your account. In the app, open Settings and tap Delete account. This deletes your moments, your coach conversations, your sign-in sessions and your account. Your partner's own moments and conversations stay with them. Deleted data can remain in our database provider's recovery backups for up to 30 days.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Apple manages subscriptions: cancel yours in your App Store subscription settings.
Not for emergencies
Mend is not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services (000 in Australia). In Australia you can also reach Lifeline on 13 11 14 and 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732.
